-
What's the easiest way to contact THE GAME OF TWO HALVES® if I have a query about the board game or a concern about my kit order? Please either email hello@thegameoftwohalves.co.uk or submit a query form (found on some of the pages on the site) - and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Alternatively, you can try the live chat (click on the 'let's chat' button bottom right of every page) - and we'll respond as soon as we see the message.
-
Can you advise what your Privacy Policy is?Yes, we have a lot of information on our Privacy Policy page on the website (just click on the Privacy Policy link in the footer found at the bottom any page of the website).
-
I prefer to have a different squad number on my merch (hoodie, t-shirt, backpack, duffel bag, mugs, etc) - can I choose a different number? You sure can! Just let us know what number you prefer (once you've added the item to your cart, you'll see an empty box where you'll be able tell us what number you want printed). There's also a 'number only' version of the swag, in case you want to keep things simple and just go for a number.
-
I want to have different words/sentiments/expressions on my merch (hoodie, t-shirt, backpack, duffel bag, mugs, etc) - do I have the option to choose? We're sorry - at this time it isn't possible for you to choose the words/sentiments for your merch. As you can imagine there would be countless requests for this type of 100% personalisation, and the print costs are higher for each new/unique version. As we don't want to increase the costs any further. Saying that, if you really do want to personalise the words/sentiments, email us and let us know what you want - and we'll add it to the shop for you to purchase (we'll email you back to let you know when it's ready). But unfortunately we'll need to add an extra £4.95 to the cost due to the increased print cost, so it's up to you really if you're willing to pay that. Even if you decide not to personalise, we have a broad range of light-hearted merch so we're confident that you'll find something you like.
-
Can I add my own name onto the merch? You sure can! We know how important is to have your own name on your kit so we were keen to make sure you have the option on most categories of the merch where it's possible to offer it (including mugs, hoodies, t-shirts, back packs, duffel bags...). To keep things simple, we've created a 'name only' version of most of the merch items - so once you select it just add it to your cart and you'll see a box where you can let us know what name you'd like. However, please note that as the print costs are higher for personalised/unique items, we'll need to add an extra £4.95 to the cost, so it's up to you really if you're willing to pay that. Even if you decide not to personalise, we have a broad range of light-hearted merch so we're confident that you'll find something you like.
-

What is THE GAME OF TWO HALVES®?THE GAME OF TWO HALVES® is a football board game that has been designed to be super-fun and super-easy to play. Just like a normal game of football, the objective is simple - to score more goals than your opponent to win the match. Simply roll the dice to move your game piece around the pitch (the game board) - landing on match actions along the way - all the things you'd expect like penalties, free kicks, corners, goals, tackles, all sorts of passes and surprise actions. But don't play dirty - because if you pick up red or yellow or red cards you may scupper your chances of winning.
-
Who are the team behind THE GAME OF TWO HALVES®?THE GAME OF TWO HALVES® is a true labour of love, invented by the Sloneem family (board game enthusiasts and big-time football fans. With Mason (10 years old) and Jon (dad) inventing the idea and the early working prototype and Sophia (7 years old) helping to play test it and video us playing. Supported by our massive cheerleader Lisa (mum), who has been the voice of reason throughout. The Fantastic Factory (a top game and toy invention company) then came on board, with the vision of bringing THE GAME OF TWO HALVES® out of our living room and into the homes of people across the UK and beyond.
-
Who publishes THE GAME OF TWO HALVES®?The Fantastic Factory, a top toy and games invention company. They're like the manager of THE GAME OF TWO HALVES® team, planning and executing the tactics and steering the team to victory. We're truly lucky to have them on board.
-
What's the idea behind THE GAME OF TWO HALVES®?The idea behind the game is really simple. It's inspired by the popular football phrase 'it's a game of two halves' (meaning, anything can happen in a game of football, each half can be drastically different and the fortunes of both teams can massively change and be flipped on its head). To play homage to this, we wanted to create a football board game which has different game boards for each half of the match, with different actions to give varied opportunities to score (or concede) goals. We're also half-glass-full people, so love the idea of being positive and to keep believing no matter what the scoreline. Because in our book, 'it ain't over until it's over'. In THE GAME OF TWO HALVES®, just like in a real game of football, anything is possible - and there's no better feeling than snatching victory from the jaws of defeat, is there?
-
How do I play THE GAME OF TWO HALVES®?THE GAME OF TWO HALVES® is simple to play - each player rolls the dice and moves around the match game board (made up of two halves, one representing the 1st half of the match and the other representing the 2nd half of the match). Along the way there are lots of football related actions to take (including corners, free-kicks, penalties, passes, goals) - with some surprise actions and team talks affecting the way that the game unfolds. Just be careful not to pick up too many red or yellow cards - as this might scupper your chances of winning. Easy-to-follow instructions can be found inside the game box.
-
Where can I buy THE GAME OF TWO HALVES®?THE GAME OF TWO HALVES® board game is available to buy from Amazon UK, with more online and physical retailers to follow. We will also soon be selling the game in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and New Zealand, and are looking to expand into more countries.

-
What's the aim of the game? The aim of the game is super simple. Just like a game of football, score more goals than your opponent and you'll smell the sweet scent of victory.
-
What happens if the game is tied at the end of the second half?If the game is tied at the end of the second half, the match moves into extra time. In which case players move their playing pieces back to the start of the 1st half game board, where the first 15 minutes make up the 1st half of extra time. And the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half game board becomes the 2nd half of extra time.
-
Why does the game come with different game boards? The game was designed on the premise of football being affectionately known as 'a game of two halves'. The literal translation of that onto a football board game was for us to create different match halves, which when placed together creates the match board for that match. Different matches will play out with different game board half combinations, making the matches different each time. The game comes with 4 different game boards (with plans for more in the future, all being well), each with a different formation on them. The more attacking the formation, the more goalscoring opportunities there are on the game board half. At the start of the match, each player has to choose a half board - the player who rolls the highest on the dice chooses first and is the designated home team.
-
How do I play THE GAME OF TWO HALVES® as a cup (rather than a single game)?THE GAME OF TWO HALVES® cup mode is especially exciting. Instead of playing a single game with a single outcome, the cup mode sees players choose multiple teams each (4, 6, 8 or any even number of teams). Players write the names of teams on a piece of paper and put them into a bowl to be drawn out one by one to create the fixtures. The matches are then played one by one, with the losing team discarded and the winning teams making it through to the next round. Full instructions can be found in the game box. The cup mode is a really enjoyable way to play THE GAME OF TWO HALVES®. Who will win the inaugural cup (for us, we witnessed the magic of the cup as Brackley Town won it against all the odds!)
-
What happens if the game is tied at the end of full time?If the game is tied at the end of full time, the match moves to penalties (instructions for how this plays out is in the game box).
-
How long does it take to play a game of THE GAME OF TWO HALVES®?A single game usually takes between 15-20 minutes (sometimes a bit quicker). So a cup game where there's multiple teams and multiple matches will naturally take longer. But the beauty of the cup is you don't need to finish it in one playing session. You can either leave the game and the fixtures out on a table, or just take a photo (or write down) the remaining fixtures so that you remember for the next time that you want to play a match. This way, the cup can have as many teams in it as you like - you could even play a replica of the FA Cup with it's many rounds, or a World Cup or Euros style format with the teams progressing down a known 'pathway' towards the final. Take a look at the instructions in the game box for this kind of cup competition - there's a handy cup competition pad in the box too.
-
Does the half of each match end as soon as one player moves past the 47th minute of the first-half game board) and the 92nd minute (of the second-half game board)?Yes, as soon as one player passes the 47th minute of the first-half game board (or the 92nd minute of the second-half game board) game board space then the half is over immediately for both players.
-
Can I order more game boards, action cards of pieces to add to my game? All being well, we plan to expand the options available to players to enhance the gameplay experience. More on this to come in due course. Patience is a virtue, as they say :)

Delivery timings - when will I get my order?Every order will have different delivery timings (it depend on the product and your location). Usually, it takes 3–7 days to fulfil an order (though could be longer), after which it’s shipped out. Please bear with us - as the print-on-demand nature of the production process (where your item/s are individually made for you as soon as you place an order) means that it takes slightly longer to reach you - but we're confident it'll be worth the wait once your swag arrives and you can use it or wear it with pride! The shipping time depends on your location, but can be estimated as follows: USA: 3–4 business days Europe: 6–8 business days Australia: 2–14 business days Japan: 4–8 business days International: 10–20 business days When placing your order (before you confirm to proceed), you should be given an indication of the shipping timings, from which point you can decide if the timeframe works for you or not. And if not, maybe there's another piece of merch that has better timings for you - feel free to browse the store for more options; we have everything from mugs to water flags, bags, hoodies and t-shirts. And a whole load more to fill your kit bag.
-
Where will my order ship from?We work with an on-demand order fulfilment company with facilities worldwide. So really, it depends where you order from, and your items will be shipped from the nearest facilities that the production company has to you.
-
Will I be charged customs for my order? An additional customs and tax fee can occur on international orders. This fee is not in our control and is assessed by your local customs office. Customs policies vary widely for every country so please check with your local customs office directly to see if they apply duties and taxes to your purchases.
-
Will I receive a tracking link when I place my order?Yes - you’ll receive a tracking link via email when your order ships out. So if you want to know when your order is due to be delivered, in the first instance please check the tracking link. And if you have any queries, contact the shipping company who should be able to help resolve. If after contacting the shipping company you still have any concerns, please drop us an email at hello@thegameoftwohalves.co.uk and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
-
Why does it take a bit longer to send me my order? It's because each item is made especially for you as soon as you place an order (it takes our print company a little longer as they use a print-on-demand approach, which means they don't have lots of stock sitting round and filling their warehouse - a much less wasteful way of doing things). So we thank you for bearing with us - we're sure that it'll be worth the wait!
-
What happens if my order doesn't arrive? If you track your order and it simply doesn't arrive, please contact the delivery company in the first instance. If you cannot resolve from there, let us know on hello@thegameoftwohalves and we'll try our best to resolve. And if all else fails after these efforts, we'll issue you with a full refund.
-

What's the returns policy for merch?Just like for any player we welcome to THE GAME OF TWO HALVES® squad, we hope that when you receive your kit you're delighted with it and wear or use it with pride. However, we know that for a number of reasons there are times when unfortunately this may not be the case, and for this we're sorry to hear. It's important for you to know that generally speaking, due to the print-on-demand nature of how our products are produced (made as single items especially for you as soon as you make an order), it's not possible for us to return the items you order in all circumstances. See below a summary of our returns policy. And if after this you're not comfortable to make an order (for example if you're unsure of what colour of word variant that you want, or aren't sure about the size that you need to order) then that's totally OK. We want you to feel comfortable with your decision before you place an order - maybe even sleep on it and decide tomorrow, whatever you prefer to do. ------------------------- Damaged item/s can be returned/refunded If your order item/s arrive damaged, please accept our apologies - clearly this is an error on our part. We want to try and resolve this for you as soon as possible, so please share a detailed description of the problem (it must be within 30 days of the date of purchase, but the sooner the better) and add quality photos where we can see the issue. We’ll be happy to assist and reship the product for you (free of charge). Wrong size orders cannot be returned/refunded We’re sorry to hear that you wish to return your order due to the size. Due to the print-on-demand nature of our products (where they are produced individually for you as soon as you place an order), unfortunately our return policy doesn’t cover products ordered in the wrong size. Because of that, we won’t be able to issue you a refund for the order. So if you are thinking of placing an order, please be sure that the size you're ordering will fit you or whoever the item is intended for. There's a handy size chart on the product pages that will help guide you. Thank you for your understanding. Wrong addresses orders cannot be refunded but can be reshipped to you for an additional cost If the shipping address is incorrect, then we expect that (in time) your package will be returned to us by the courier - and if you're happy to pay for it to be re-shipped to your correct shipping address then we can arrange this when we receive it back. Please let us know how you would like to proceed (and if you would like your package resent to you then let us know your correct shipping address). Products cannot be returned/refunded if you simply change your mind Unfortunately, due to the print-on-demand nature of our products (where they are produced individually for you as soon as you place an order, we cannot refund you if you simply change your mind. This is because the expense to produce your item will already have been incurred.

As a birthday or Christmas present for friends or loved ones, or if you're feeling kind - as a surprise treat for them or for yourself :) The clothing items are also great for football teams or groups of friends to wear together - to unite them as one but with each person able to choose a different sentiment to be printed onto the back.
-
How do I wash and take care of my kit items (clothing, hats, bags, mugs...)?In a game of fine margins, if you look after your kit, it might just give you the edge... Just like warming-down after a game helps players to recover well and prepare for the next game, some thought needs to go into preparing your THE GAME OF TWO HALVES® kit for the next time you wear it too, as you'll no doubt want it to be in tip-top condition. To ensure you get the most of your kit and continue wearing it with pride, please be sure to look after your kit as well as you look after yourself - by following our after care guidance. We use the latest direct-to-garment (DTG) printing technology to offer a wide variety of printable garments and design colour options. We use high-quality inks that won't fade for a long time if taken care of properly. Follow these instructions carefully to avoid fading and cracking of the print, and shrinking the garment that can occur if you wash or dry it on a high setting. PRINTED CLOTHING (t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, joggers) Washing: You can machine wash your kit, but use a cool wash on a gentle cycle with the same or similar colours, turn it inside-out and only use a mild detergent. Try to avoid using non-chlorine bleach and don't use fabric softeners. Lots to be aware of there, but all important to ensure your kit doesn't get damaged. Drying: To maintain the quality look of your kit, it's important that you don't dry it in a tumble drier - this really won't be good for the clothing, the print or the embroidery. Ironing: If you want to iron your kit, turn it inside-out and put the iron on a cool setting (please also avoid ironing the area where the print is on your kit). Dry cleaning: Please don't dry clean your kit, as this will likely case some damage. And we need to make sure you look the part next time you wear it. HATS (beanies, caps) If your hat starts to look a little bit grubby, you should use a damp cloth to wipe away the dirt. And if necessary, they can be hand-washed cold. Don’t use brushes. To help maintain the quality look of your kit, please don't machine wash, bleach, tumble-dry, iron or dry-clean it. Sorry about all the rules - feeling properly like a ref telling you what to do there! BAGS (backpacks, duffle bags) All-over print backpacks, fanny packs, and duffle bags need to be hand-washed without bleach. Don’t dry-clean or tumble-dry the bags. You can iron these bags with a low heat setting. MUGS Mugs are microwave safe, but should only be hand-washed. Sorry, that's a bit more effort to keep your mug in good condition, but worth it in the long run. WATER BOTTLES Please hand-wash only (dishwasher isn't recommended due to vacuum seal).
